The hustle and bustle of the holiday season are coming up rather quickly. We all have so many things to do and so little time. Don’t forget to include your winter safety check and tune-up on your list of things to do. At Eastland Heating & Cooling, we want to make sure you experience a warm and pleasant winter within the comfort of your home. For the time being, if you have not scheduled your tune-up yet, here are a few pointers to assist you in preparing your home for the winter.
- Remove Any Clutter Away- Clear away any items that may be blocking the surrounding area of your furnace. Keep in mind; if there is any blockage around your system, it could be considered a safety hazard.
- Test Your Thermostat- The thermostat can often be overlooked. Check to make sure it is running efficiently with its different settings. A good tip is to check it multiple times at different points of the day and note its response time as it works in conjunction with the HVAC unit.
- Keep an Ear Out for Any Irregular Sounds- Loud or unusual sounds emitted from your system are usually an indication of something going on. Do not ignore these. If you hear something unusual, take note of it and give us a call as soon as possible.
- Inspect Your Ductwork- Exposed ductwork should be kept free of dust. If there dust is present on top of your home heating system, it can deter it from operating at its utmost capacity. Remember: built-up layers of dust are also a fire hazard.
- Check the Vents and Registers- Always check these. A quick wipe down of the vents and registers will help keep the air passageway free and allow heated air to run through smoothly.
- Change Out the Air Filters- It is recommended to change these out once a month. Keep backup filters in your home so that they can be changed out immediately when needed!
- Schedule with Us Today- You want to get your seasonal tune-up and safety check scheduled as soon as possible to make sure everything is functioning accordingly. So, you can enjoy the winter within the coziness of your own home.
These tips and tricks will help get your home ready for the cold winter weather! Going through this list will be sure to confirm everything is working together properly.
